Since its inception six decades ago, Landis Construction has been managed under the leadership of the Landis family:
- 1956 – 1976 Frederick S. Landis, Founder & President
- 1976 – 1987 Evelyn Landis Christman, Chairman of the Board
- 1978 – 2015 James C. Landis, President & CEO
- 2015 – present Anne Teague Landis, Chief Executive Officer
Frederick (Fred) and Evelyn Landis, natives of Pittsburgh, PA and Birmingham, AL respectively, settled in New Orleans after Mr. Landis’ World War II service with the U.S. Corp of Engineers. Mr. Landis began working in construction for Keller Construction Co. before deciding after a few years to start his own general contracting company.
In 1956, Fred Landis founded Landis Construction Co, Inc. At the age of fourteen, James (Jim) Landis began learning his father’s trade as he worked digging ditches and carrying lumber. Following the death of Fred Landis in 1976, his widow Evelyn Landis preserved the family leadership of the company by becoming Chairman of the Board and in 1978, young Jim Landis took over as President and CEO. Anne Teague Landis began learning the administrative side of the company as young as Jim began learning the building side, working in the office during summer breaks. When Anne Teague joined Landis permanently in 2008, she began working side-by-side with her father to really learn the business. In 2015, Jim stepped down as CEO and turned the management of the business over to Anne Teague.
Landis Construction Co., LLC (Landis), as the company has been known since 1999, is a local general contractor with over 80 employees. We are proud of our impressive resume of completed projects and repeat clients including Xavier University, the State of Louisiana, the Archdiocese of New Orleans, and Ralph Brennan Restaurant Group. The company is continually working to improve and expand its expertise in the ever-changing marketplace.
Much of Landis’ success has come through sacrifice, hard work, and the dedication of our employees to our clients, subcontractors and other associates in New Orleans and southeast Louisiana building community.
